Portfolio Proof Lab

Turn one workflow into a proof record.

Practice making a narrow piece of work inspectable. You will leave with one record that shows the job, the cases you saved, the human decision, the recovery path, and the limits of the evidence. This is an applied practice lab, not an article and not a credential.

Narrow workflow

One job, documented from input to receipt.

Observed
One job moved through all four stages.
Retained
Cases, approval rule, and recovery note.
Boundary
Only this practiced workflow is evidenced.

The exercise

Make the record in four passes.

Work with a real, low-risk workflow you can inspect. Do not widen the scope when an edge case appears. Record it.

  1. 01

    Choose one job

Pick a routine job with a stable beginning and end. Write the input, the person who starts it, and the output they expect in one sentence.

Keep: a one sentence job statement.
  2. 02

    Save representative cases

Retain one ordinary case, one exception, and one edge case. Remove sensitive details while preserving the conditions that changed the outcome.

    Keep: three replayable case notes.
  3. 03

    Name approval and recovery

Name who approves a consequential action. Then write what the workflow should do when evidence is missing, the action fails, or the approver says no.

Keep: one approval rule and one recovery rule.
  4. 04

    Assemble the proof receipt

Combine the job statement, saved cases, decision owner, observed result, and evidence boundary into one record another person can inspect without a walkthrough.

    Keep: one shareable proof record.

Your working record

Build the artifact you can keep.

Complete every field before copying. Completion means the record is structurally complete, not that the workflow is proven.

Failure boundary

A polished story is not proof.

If you cannot replay the saved cases or explain what happens after a rejected approval, the record remains practice notes. It does not prove production readiness, general reliability, or business impact.

Done when

The record can stand without you.

  • The job fits in one sentence and has a visible start and finish.
  • Each saved case can be replayed from the information retained.
  • The approval owner and the recovery response are explicit.
  • The receipt separates what was observed from what remains unknown.
  • Another person can inspect the record without relying on your memory.
